Geoffrey Cass

Sir Geoffrey Cass - President

A past President of the LTA (from 1997-99), Sir Geoffrey Cass was Chairman of the British Tennis Foundation from 2003 until 2007, becoming President of the re-launched Tennis Foundation at that time. Sir Geoffrey, a former Wimbledon player, is also Deputy President of The Royal Shakespeare Company.


Jonathan Lane

Jonathan Lane - Chairman

Jonathan is an LTA Honorary Councillor being an Independent Non-Executive Director of the LTA's National Tennis Operations Board, whose considerable expertise in property investment and development proved invaluable in the building of the National Tennis Centre.


Sheila Hamilton

Sheila Hamilton

A retired Civil Servant, Sheila is a Vice-President of the LTA and was a Main Board member of the LTA from 2001 to 2007. Sheila was both Chairman of the Civil Service LTA and Company Secretary for her club, Sheen Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, for many years and remains a director of the club.  She is also assistant referee for the Surrey Junior County closed event.


Jo Maher

Jo Maher

A retired PE teacher, Jo has represented the British Schools' Tennis Association on the LTA Council since December 1984 and is a long-serving member of the LTA's Disciplinary Committee.


Vic Farrow

Vic Farrow

Executive with Direct Line Insurance and a member of the companies Board of Directors, plus held responsibility for the Direct Line sponsorships of tennis events and the Cliff Richard Tennis Trail. Trustee of the Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation since 1992 to 2008.


Jenny Thomas

Jenny Thomas

Jenny comes from an educational background.  Her teaching experience and coaching qualifications led to her appointment as Director of Tennis at Queenswood School, a role she carried out for 12 years.   Following a coaching position for Hertfordshire LTA as County Performance Officer, Jenny began her present employment as a coach educator tutor.   Jenny is involved in the delivery of courses for a number of educational providers, including a recently formed company ‘Ucoach’, of which she is a director. As player Jenny represented Northumberland, Hertfordshire and Wales.  Jenny represents the coaching sector on the LTA Council.

Matt Stocks

As Senior Competition Manager for Greater Manchester, Matt Stocks manages the largest network of Competition Managers in the country. Key tasks include effectively linking competition with the PESSYP strategy and liaising with strategic partners such as the Youth Sport Trust, National Governing Bodies, Local Authority Sports Development Units and the County Sports Partnership. Matt has been involved in tennis for over 25 years and experienced all levels of the game. After competing as a full time national junior player, Matt became an LTA Club Coach, Tutor and Tennis Development Officer. He still remains involved in the development of tennis as a member of the Tennis Foundation’s Schools Tennis Advisory Group and represents the education sector on the LTA Council.


Neil Jenkinson

Neil Jenkinson

Neil has worked most of the last 30 years in the public sector in both sports development and facility management in the fields of sport and culture. He has worked with a number of sports governing bodies including the RFL, RFU, British Swimming and the FA and has been a national Council member, and chair, of the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management. Neil was part of the Government led initiative to develop NVQ’s for sport and spent 10 years as a member of the Indoor Tennis Initiative committee which he was invited to join after developing one of our early centres in Batley, West Yorkshire. Neil now works for Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency, where he recently established a new regional approach to attracting major sports and cultural events as part of the region’s new approach to economic diversification.  Neil represents the local authority sector on the LTA Council.


Cathie Sabin

Cathie Sabin

A retired schoolteacher, Cathie is a member of the British Schools' Tennis Association Management Committee and Chairman of the DFS Classic pre-Wimbledon tournament (since 2006).


Funke Awoderu

Funke Awoderu

A former local community Sports Development Manager, Funke has held a national role for the Lawn Tennis Association developing a network of City Tennis Clubs, primarily in urban areas and on equality and diversity. Funke now holds a policy role for the Football Association leading on football equality.

Sue Mappin

Sue Mappin - Executive Director

Sue has played at the top level of the international game, competing at all Grand Slam events and has represented her country on numerous occasions. Through her consultancy (SMC) Sue was approached by The Cliff Richard Organisation to establish and administer a tennis charity. This resulted in the establishment of the Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation. Since 1991 the Foundation poured millions of pounds back into the grass roots of the game. In July 2007 Sue was appointed the Executive Director of The Tennis Foundation, The Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation merged with the British Tennis Foundation to form this new charity and its strategy is to support and promote community tennis across Great Britain.


Tony Hughes

Tony Hughes - Finance Director

After a number of financial positions in manufacturing companies, in 1981, Tony joined The All England Lawn Tennis Club where he was Financial and Personnel Director, retiring in 2007. He was also Company Secretary of The All England Lawn Tennis Ground Company which uses the money raised from the sale of debentures to finance the Long Term Development plan, announced in 1993, and culminating in 2009 with the completion of the sliding roof over Centre Court and a new No 2 Court.

Jo Farquharson - Company Secretary

Joanna worked for the LTA as their Head of Legal Services for over five years and more recently combined this role with the role of Secretary to the Association.  She is also a trustee of the Westway Development Trust which includes the Westway Sports Centre, a facility which was partially funded by the Indoor Tennis Initiative.


The Tennis Foundations home is the National Tennis Centre, alongside the LTA.

The National Tennis Centre provides a one-site national focus for the sport in Great Britain and offers all players the very best opportunity to realise their potential by offering world-class facilities and back-up.

The Tennis Foundation benefits from being in London and in close proximity to organisations such as the Department of Culture Media and Sport, UK Sport and Sport England, as well as working alongside the LTA.
