Baroness Jowell DBE

Tessa was an MP from 1992 until 2015 and served as a Minister and then as a Member of the Cabinet throughout the 1997-2010 Labour Government. As Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Tessa is credited with bringing the Government behind London’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. She became Olympics Minister in 2005. In 2012 Tessa was made a Dame for her political and charitable services. In 2015, Tessa was raised to the peerage as Baroness Jowell.
