Schools Competitions

A Schools Tennis Competition Framework has been developed to provide simple, inclusive and progressive schools competition opportunities. There are two categories of Schools Tennis Competitions, National and Local, and there is a strong emphasis on Team Tennis across all events.

National Competitions:

AEGON Team Tennis Schools is a programme of three nationally organised competitions, which provides Secondary School and Further Education pupils with the opportunity to play regular competitive tennis and to represent their school. All competitions begin locally and culminate in a national final. Responsibility for organising these competitions lies with the LTA and The Tennis Foundation.

The three competitions are:

  • AEGON Team Tennis Schools National Championships
  • AEGON Team Tennis Schools Year 8 & 10
  • AEGON Team Tennis Schools Senior Students

Local Competitions:

The priority for local schools competition is to increase the amount of local, entry-level competitive tennis opportunities available through schools. There are many different types of inter and intra school competitions that can be run in schools and the Schools Tennis Competition Guide has been developed to assist in making this as easy as possible. Working closely with the Youth Sport Trust, priority Year 3&4 primary school and Year 7&8 secondary school competitions have been developed to engage the Competition Manager network (England).

Resources & More Information:

The Schools Tennis Competition Guide is an interactive CD-Rom, which has been designed to make the process of running Schools Competition as easy as possible. In 2010, it is being distributed to all 225 Competition Managers and 450 Partnership Development Managers in England.
