Places to Play

Clubs:

At the heart of British Tennis is a network of over 2,700 LTA affiliated clubs – these are made up of clubs that have specialist performance programmes (Satellite Clubs and High Performance Centres) and other clubs, many of which have achieved Tennis Clubmark. Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs and the LTA is an accredited partner. Tennis Clubmark is an opportunity for places to play tennis to be recognised for achieving excellent standards and includes all the key criteria of the national Clubmark programme.

Public Tennis Facilities:

The Tennis Foundation is leading the drive to revitalise public tennis sites which could be in parks; schools; universities or leisure centres. The aim is to develop 225 hub community sites (Beacon Sites) across Great Britain by 2012, which will provide local communities with organised, affordable access to coaching and competition.

Facility Development:

The ‘Places to Play Strategy’ is one plan for British Tennis, driven by increasing the opportunities to participate, compete and get access to coaching at all levels. It is a joined up approach that is completely interwoven through all aspects of the sport. The strategy is simple, easy to use and gives clear guidance on expectations for financial support from the resources and funds available to British Tennis.
