Core Offer Support
British Tennis makes an annual 'Core Offer' package of support available to School Sport Partnerships in England and to Local Authorities in Scotland/Wales.
In the 2010/2011 academic year, the Core Offer includes:
1. Primary School Teacher Training Course - This 3 hour course has been developed to give teachers the confidence and tools to deliver tennis to a class of children in a small space. In 2010/2011, attendees at the course will receive free copies of; the Primary School DVD resource, Tennis Activity Week Pack, Out of School Hours Tennis Club Toolkit, Schools Tennis Competition Guide and Guide to Schools Tennis.
2. Secondary School Teacher Training Course – This 3 hour course has been developed to provide teachers with a basic level of confidence and knowledge to deliver traditional and modified versions of tennis to pupils and to gain an awareness of the other areas of support and opportunities available. Attendees at the course receive a free copy of the Secondary Schools Tennis – Teacher Resource.
3. Tennis Leaders Award - Tennis Leaders has been developed to introduce more young people into volunteering. It is targeted at 14 – 16 year olds with an interest in tennis and sport – however, this can be extended to 13 and 17 year olds. There are four Tennis Leader modules, each ranging between 2-3hrs in duration and they can be delivered individually, or together.
4. Competition Support – To support our priority competitions and engagement with Competition Managers, you’ve been provided with a copy of The Schools Tennis Competition Guide and an element of financial support is available, as detailed below.
5. Primary Schools Tennis Equipment Packs x 10 – We are able to offer your Partnership 10 equipment packs, each containing; 30 Mini Tennis Rackets, 30 outdoor Mini Tennis Red Balls, 30 indoor Mini Tennis Red balls, 1 Mini Tennis net and 1 roll of barrier tape. Each bag has a retail value of £500, so this element is worth £5,000 in total.
6. Secondary Schools Tennis Equipment Packs x 2 – We are able to offer your Partnership 2 equipment packs, similar in specification to the above, to assist with modified delivery of tennis. Again, the retail value of each pack is £500.
7. Competition Organisers Workshop - This 3 hour workshop, designed specifically for 16-25yr olds, provides the skills to run a range of competitions. At the training, attendees will be given a Competition Organisers Toolkit, providing them all the tools and resources needed to run competitions.
8. £500 Financial Support – To support the above package, we can provide each Partnership with £500. This financial support should be allocated to support delivery, as follows; £100 for the Primary School Teacher Training Course, £100 for the Secondary School Teacher Training Course, £100 for Tennis Leaders and £200 for priority competitions.

Core Offer support for 2010/2011 needs to be agreed by September 2010, through a meeting between the relevant Tennis Development Manager and Partnership Development Manager (England) or Local Authority representative (Scotland and Wales).
