Valerie took up tennis aged 13 and played socially at her local club. After returning from university she re-joined her local club and competed in numerous LTA-sanctioned summer and winter league matches. She competed in her first National Deaf Tennis Championships in 2011 and became a member of the Tennis Foundation Deaf Tennis Performance Programme in 2014. Valerie has since represented Great Britain at both the World and European Deaf Championships.  Valerie is both passionate and committed to ensuring that other deaf individuals have a positive and rewarding experience within sport.  She has worked for the National Deaf Children’s Society and currently works for UK Deaf Sport as the Head of Participation

Major achievements:

  • 2016 European Deaf Tennis Championships Women’s Doubles 4th Place (with Phoebe Suthers)
  • 2015 National Championships Women’s doubles champion (with Beth Simmons)
