About: Luz Esperanza was a talented junior non-disabled tennis player before being diagnosed with an infection in her right hip in November 2011. After a series of operations, she has taken up wheelchair tennis, having been inspired by watching London 2012 medallist Lucy Shuker training. She made her wheelchair tennis tournament debut when representing Great Britain at the 2013 BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Turkey, winning her first ever international singles match.
