Born with Brittle Bone Disease, Dave is a former world No.2 junior player. In 2007 he was a member of the GB team that won the junior event at the Invacare World Team Cup. Dave estimated he has broken bones approximately 160 times. Hi mum Anne has done a parachute jump in the past to raise money for Dave’s tennis career. He also credits his father Mike, a regular volunteer at wheelchair tennis tournaments in the UK for getting him into tennis saying he didn’t want him ‘standing on a street corner at 16 with nothing to do’.
