School of Tennis is an ambitious programme from the Tennis Foundation which aims to radically change the way tennis is delivered in secondary schools. The programme is being used to support the development of tennis in key focus areas across Great Britain and involves a deep, targeted engagement with secondary schools and their staff working in partnership with local tennis venues.
School of Tennis was launched by the Tennis Foundation in 2016 with an initial 21 schools from across the country, as we move into the academic year 2017-18 there will be over 80 schools on the programme. The programme aims to reverse the decline in young people participating in tennis by giving secondary schools the support and funding needed to deliver tennis in the best way that suits the school and pupils.
Each school receives a package of support up to £10,000 over a three-year period, with tennis activity being used to support the following key themes; Teaching & Learning, Student Leadership, Facilities & Equipment and Community Links.
The Tennis Foundation aims to establish 150 Schools of Tennis establishments across the country by 2020.
