Alex Chaston has been named Aegon Junior Player of the Month for April.
Alex has only playing wheelchair tennis for two years, but he was selected to make his BNP Baribas World Team Cup debut for Great Britain in Sardinia, Italy.
The Greenwich 14-year-old helped the Great Britain junior team finish seventh this year. The team therefore exceeded their pre-event seeding of eighth. Alex won his first ever World Team Cup match for Great Britain in the seventh place-play-off against Chile. He defeated Chile’s Eric Fritz in the first singles rubber of a 2-0 victory over Chile.
Ahead of the competition, Alex represented the team and was interviewed by both BBC Radio 5 Live and Newsround.
The Aegon Awards recognise individuals in British tennis that have reached outstanding achievements on the court or contributing to the development of players. Awarded monthly, there are two awards; Player of the Month and Junior Player of the Month.
